   June 5, 2016

   Dear readers, followers and supporters.

As promised earlier, I am coming back with our new publication

  Subject:             ASPASIA THE "" HARLOT""
                             Athens  470 B.C.

Pericles was leading the Greek cities having as adversary
the city of Sparta. The leader of Athens was an exempla-
ry man, who had many friends, but also had enemies.

He was a model democratic leader, but he also had some
weaknesses as a man.  Unable to manage his manly nature he fell in love with a woman who was considered
by her peers as a prostitute, named Aspasia.

Aspasia had come to Athens from the city of Militus,
a woman known for her grace and talents. Many mer-
chants from Athens who had visited the of Militus spoke
about her impressive beauty and her great body and
said that knew more than any other woman of her time
the game of LOVE the ideal company of intellectual men.

Her adjustment in Athens was not at all easy, the customs, manners, and jealousies demanded diplomacy
and fine handling, which she was able to provide, as it
became obvious.

She had a tremendous influence on Pericles, the Olympian man, and consequently to the entire Athenian
society.-
Aspasia was an ambiguous personality and it is unknown
to what degree she influenced Pericles in his serious
political decisions.

Her life was fictional, but her end was tragic!!!

                     Aspasia about herself!
""  I will go down in history not for my physical beauty,
that nature gave me, but for the privilege of mee-
ting extraordinay men, Athenians or otherwise, of
my time.  Men who helped establish the glory of
Athens, and put the foundation of sciences, philoso-
      phy and arts._
More specifically I had the pleasure to meet a man,
a unique man, who was loved and hated like no one
else, Pericles, who managed to survive the sunami
      of politics.
He was one who enjoyed a long life and passed away
      while still in power""
                                      _____Aspasia_____

Thoughts of Evi Martyn:  The question remains
                                             whether she was a woman
of low morals OR a woman
with a free spirit, way ahead
                                             of her time.

   PART TWO

   By:  Anastasia Stamatopoulou

As it was already pointed out by our founder Ms. EVI MARTYN
in her introduction, the opinions are divided as to the existance of
   HOMER.

1. There are about 27.800 verses, written with absolutely unique
concept, narrating  a continuous story and independent ones!!
We also have many references of ancient writters, who are clear
    and definite about The Man,!!
2. Some points of view, that Greeks had no writting at that time can
not convince logical persons!!! because it is impossible to save
thousands of verses.... orally!!!    Again the opinions are divided

                                       THE EPICS
                      ILYAD  and  ODYSSEY

a.   Ilyad.  Subject of the Ilyad is the happenings 51 days out of the
     10 years of civil war.
Danae attack Troyans, but the siege of Troy is very hard. The
Gods who are watching them from above, they interfere, split
in favorable camps.!!!  War, massacre, and death is everywhere
Yet, in all these scenes there is great tenderness, which brings
tears to the eyes of the readers.

b . Odyssey.  Subject of the Odyssey is the adventurous return of
Odysseus in his native island Ithaca, ten years after war's end.
His wife, Penelope, is expecting him for 20 years. She is the
example of faithfullness.    Many men of the island have
demanded to marry her, but she waited for Odysseus!!!!!

                    IS  HOMER  VALUABLE  TODAY???

The epics provide information about, Geography, navigation,
   commerce, medicine, social customs etc.
The social status of  women appear  to be much higher than
   many societies today!!!!
Homer points out to those who complain that   "their suffering
is a result of their own wrong doing".
An inscription dated the 1st Century AD says"
" The sky stars will probably turn off soon, rather than the
name of HOMER will be forgotten by men"!!!!!

Indeed! HOMER can still teach us  a lot!!
He is our grandfather!   with Maturity and Virtue
he will also be our Son.

                       REDISCOVERING HOMER

     An introduction by:  EVI MARTYN
                                      founder/Hellenic Culture
                                                    Advocacy

In my recent research I was reconfirmed that
the existance of HOMER remains an Enigma/
 Mystery.

The intellectuals and scholars of the world  re-
main devided and they probably will never agree.

"  When he lived, as well as whether he lived
       at all, is unknown."

" The importance of HOMER to the ancient
Greeks is described in " Plato's Republic "
portraying him as the first teacher
            " protos didaskalos" ( in Greek ).
Those Historians who DO NOT SUPPORT the theory that he
ever existed believe that the Epics were actually many poems
written by different persons.  Again, this is not my theory, but
 the theory of Historians.

In the pages to follow I will introduce our writer
                   Ms. Anastasia Stamatopoulou
who is going to give our readers a well studied and thorough
opinion of this great poet and the work that is left behind.

                                        Please, note:
DUE TO THE LENGTH OF THE ARTICLE WE WILL DIVIDE IT IN 2 PARTS.
BEGINNING WITH

PART ONE:

By : Anastasia Stamatopoulou

" Homer poetry, is a Praise of Virtue" St. Vasilleios.
An ancient kind of Greek poetry , written to be signed, was the
"Epic" . main subject was to recall the achievements of heroes
and the ideals of the race.
The oldest and greatest Poet is considered to be Homer(although
we have  verses and references for oldest ones) .
Homer's Epics are   "ILIAD"  and "ODYSSEY" .

They were school lesson, educating Greek youth towards Bravery,
Responsibility, Patriotism, Justice.  After the Macedonian campaign of Alexander the Great ( who, by the way, slept with
"Iliad" under his pillow!) ,people of East came to know HOMER

Much later, the Latins took advantage by reading Greek texts.
Our " Fathers of Christian Church" have studied the ancient
Greek wisdom and have been influenced a lot.

Until today, both Epics remain a fascinating study subject and
born various and conflicting scientific views.

At this point we will stop and continue very soon,
           Please, follow us.
Anastasia Stamatopoulou,/ Author.
