" 5 Cents to Save Greece "
http://www.dw-world.de/dw/article/0,,5498760,00.html
As I was working on the translation of this article from the German
to English I heard an announcement on Television ( Fox News) that the current Government of Greece is putting two WORLD
RENOWN antiquities of Greece ( the Parthenon, and the Delphi
Theater) up for rent.-
The price they are asking is $2.000 per day!!!
This is the most sacrilegious act brough on these sacret sites that the world has cherished for 2.500 years.-
To think that the Greek Government is stooping that low is totally
incomprehensible!!!! Shame on them!!!!!!
The least they could do is ask a much higher price!!!!!!
Instead, I have the following proposal to make to them!!!!!!
PLEASE, READ THE FOLLOWING ARTICLE
A German historian and author, Leonora Seeling, is asking for the
imposition of a CULTURAL Tax in order to save Greece economi-
cally.-
This lady, who lives in Stuttgard, Germany has published a book
under the title " 5 cents to save Greece " in which she expresses her feelings and admiration for the Hellenic Culture,
particularly for the Greek language and she has a fabulous and most avant-guardist and pioneering idea. Here is what she says:
" We must find at any cost ways to save GREECE, ( the cradle
of our Western civilization), so I propose to impose a European
cultural tax, ( small and symbolic, 5 cents per word) for anyone
who uses in one way or another Greek words.-
As soon as a German says: "idee", the Frenchman, "idee", the
Englishman " idea", to award immediately 5 cents to the Greek
public coffers. The same for words such as,
"psychoanalysis", "democracy", " politics", " museum",
"Europe", etc.""
****************
Ms. Seeling with great pleasure is counting the millions and
billions that will be awarded to the empty Greek coffers.
She is convinced that the Europeans owe this tax to Greece
because without their intelligent and scientific achievements
there woudln't be the European Culture today, Technology,
the planes wouldn't be flying the skies and the ships wouldn't
be traveling the Oceans.
